Phil Read, co-founder of Read | Thomas, joins us on the Art of Construction podcast for a look into the future of construction.

Phil shares how his company helps designers, builders, manufacturers, and owners integrate cutting edge software into their design processes. As a veteran Revit employee, Phil specializes in helping teams learn how to use software through a custom training program that uses the company’s own project to teach new software. Read | Thomas also offers go-to-market services for software companies to get their product in front of their ideal customers. Along the way, Phil tells us why he thinks no one should take on debt to go to college, what’s wrong with modular construction, why you need to learn to say no and what the future looks like for design and construction. Whether you are a contractor or an architect, you’ll want to listen in to find out the latest in design and construction technology and where the industry is headed.

Phil has over 20 years experience in Architecture and Engineering including 18 years implementing Autodesk Revit: the world's only fully integrated platform for the parametric design of buildings and infrastructure. While working in Civil Engineering, Phil completed his Undergraduate and Masters Degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Soon after, he went to work with Revit Technology and later Autodesk where he had the fortune of providing Revit training, implementation and support for clients and projects around the world.

A frequent public speaker, Phil has presented at Autodesk University since 2003 as well as RTC Conferences on topics ranging from "Best Practices and Large Project Management" to "Parametric Design Iteration in Architecture" and the "Business Dynamics of Transitioning from 2D CAD to Building Information Modeling". As a writer, Phil helped co-author the official Autodesk Mastering Revit series of books. Among other high profile clients and projects, played a lead role in providing training, implementation and ongoing support for the Architectural, Mechanical and Structural Engineers on the Freedom Tower World Trade Center Initiative in New York. When not traveling, you're likely to find Phil driving around Charlotte in his restored 1960 Triumph TR3A.
